Statement of Faith
At Pick Up Your Bible, we joyfully affirm the following foundational truths of the Christian faith:
The Scriptures
We believe the Holy Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God.
It is our final authority in faith, doctrine, and daily living, and it is essential for knowing God and walking faithfully with Him.
(2 Timothy 3:16–17; Psalm 119:105)
The One True God
We believe in one true God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
He is holy, loving, sovereign, and worthy of all praise and worship.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19)
God the Father
We believe in God the Father, Creator of heaven and earth, who is sovereign, holy, just, and loving.
He faithfully sustains His creation and lovingly adopts all who trust in Jesus Christ as His children.
He is faithful to His promises and works all things according to His perfect will and purpose.
(Genesis 1:1; Romans 8:15; Ephesians 1:4–5; Psalm 103:13)
Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah, the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died as our substitute on the cross, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will return again in glory.
(John 1:1–14; Matthew 16:16; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Acts 1:9–11)
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who convicts of sin, regenerates and indwells every believer, and empowers us to live lives that honor Christ.
(John 16:8–13; Romans 8:9–11)
We believe the Spirit gives spiritual gifts for the building up of the Church and the advancement of God’s Kingdom, to be exercised in love and in submission to Scripture.
(1 Corinthians 12:4–11)
We believe the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—is the evidence of spiritual maturity and the foundation of Christian character. Christlike character takes priority over spiritual gifting.
(Galatians 5:22–23; John 15:4–5)
Salvation
We believe that salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone.
All people are sinners in need of redemption and are justified only through repentance and faith in Christ.
(Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 3:23–24)
Humanity and the Image of God
We believe that every person is created in the image of God and possesses inherent worth and dignity.
Human life is sacred from conception to natural death and is deserving of love, protection, and respect.
(Genesis 1:26–27; Psalm 139:13–16)
The Church
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, made up of all believers.
The Church is called to worship God, grow in spiritual maturity, serve others, and share the gospel with the world.
(1 Corinthians 12:27; Matthew 28:19–20)
Christian Living
We believe every believer is called to live a life of obedience, holiness, love, and humility, empowered by the Holy Spirit and shaped by God’s Word.
We are called to be doers of the Word, not hearers only.
(Romans 12:1–2; James 1:22)
The Resurrection and Eternal Life
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people: eternal life with God for those who trust in Christ and eternal separation from God for those who reject Him.
We look forward to the new heaven and new earth promised by God.
(John 5:28–29; Revelation 21:1–4)
Our Mission
We believe God calls every believer to know His Word, love His truth, and live it out daily.
Pick Up Your Bible exists to encourage, equip, and inspire people to open God’s Word regularly, grow in faith, and walk closely with Jesus.
(Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1–3)
